Happy Friday everybody!
This was a tough week in Hollywood – the weekend began with news of the passing of Jimmy Buffett, then we learned that the lead singer of Smash Mouth, Steve Harwell, passed away, as did musician Gary Wright. We’ll be paying tribute to the late Jimmy Buffett tomorrow evening on the Album Stash, listening to his album Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes starting at 10pm.
Then, rumors began flying that Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers and Sophie Turner of Game of Thrones were separating. All of you listeners know how much I adore the Jonas Brothers, so this news surprised me SO much, and I, like most of their fans, was waiting for Joe or Sophie to say something themselves. From what I knew of the pair, they were a happy, carefree couple parenting two young daughters.
Then, on Wednesday morning, Joe and Sophie posted an official statement saying it is an amicable separation. Joe is the first of the Jonas Brothers to separate and hopefully the last of the brothers.
But now, let’s focus on the positives of this past week, because there HAVE been many positives this week!
Last weekend, there was a mini Dawson’s Creek Reunion at GalaxyCon in Austin, Texas. The finale of Dawson’s Creek was back in 2003, and to my knowledge, the cast has been together very few times since, especially for a comic con experience.
At GalaxyCon, John Wesley Shipp – who played Dawson’s father Mitch Leery – attended the convention all weekend with Kerr Smith, famous for playing Jack McPhee. Then, on Saturday, Jam Van Der Beek – who played the infamous Dawson Leery – joined the pair for the day.
Check out these photos John Wesley Shipp posted on his Facebook!
I WISH I could’ve attended the convention, and if any east coast based companies decide to bring the Dawson’s Creek cast to one of their events, the next pictures you’ll be seeing here are me with the cast!
Dawson’s Creek is available for streaming on Max, Prime, and Hulu, but if you’re interested in new television, the upcoming fall tv slate was released this week. If you, like me, love your television and you’re wondering what the fall will look like with the strikes that are going on in Hollywood, fear not, you will still have a full slate to keep you busy and entertained.
Check out this fantastic article to see what’s coming up this fall!
The sixth season of The Crown is also coming out this fall. This season will be the final season of the series and will address Princess Diana’s death.
The Survivor cast was announced this week as well. It is the 45th season of the series and if you’re a fan, check out the cast, there’s a familiar face!
Lastly, if you’re a fan of Wheel of Fortune and you would like to play at home, check out the new multi game arcade cabinet. Not only can you play Wheel of Fortune, but you can also play some popular casino games including black jack and poker. Check out this article about the new device!
As for movies, new posters for the upcoming Hunger Games prequel film were released this week. The movie follows President Snow as a young man, long before he became president of the nation, and takes a look at his first encounter with the Hunger Games.
Check out the new posters here! The film will be released in theaters on November 17th, 2023.
If you’re looking for a movie to see this weekend though, check out all of this week’s releases.
Then, in the music world this week, Springsteen had to postpone some of his upcoming shows due to peptic ulcer disease symptoms. Fear not, though, because he plans to reschedule all of these shows, NOT cancel them!
Lastly, the Rolling Stones are releasing a new studio, their first in nearly 2 decades! The album will have 12 tracks, featuring a collaboration with Lady Gaga. The album will be released on October 20th, but if you’re looking to get your fix now, they released a music video for their new song Angry featuring Sydney Sweeney of Euphoria and White Lotus. Check out the video below.
Stay cool in the heat this weekend and I’ll talk to you all again next Friday!
