Hi Easy 99.1 listeners, Jordyn here! Last week, I had the opportunity to see Blue Man Group at the Charles Playhouse thanks to Broadway in Boston and I’m so excited to share that experience with you now!
Theater productions are something that make our city so special and Blue Man Group is one of the best! I grew up with parents who talked about Blue Man Group all the time, so I’m so grateful I was able to see it and experience the show for myself for the first time as an adult! They took me to see the show when I was younger, but this experience was something completely different. I’m not sure if it’s because I now have a greater understanding and appreciation for productions, or if it’s because the company has recently reimagined the production, giving theatergoers a new, reinvigorated experience, or maybe it’s a mix of both! Regardless, I can’t recommend this show to you enough!
Although there is no verbal communication throughout the show, the performers do an incredible job forging a connection between themselves and the audience members, showing us how important human connection is and the power of the collective experience.
The show is at the Charles Playhouse in Boston and the theater couldn’t be more perfect. As someone who’s very short, I have to be pretty selective on where I can sit in a theater to make sure I’m able to see the stage, but at the Charles Playhouse, I didn’t have to worry about that at all. Every seat in the whole theater had a great view and with all of the audience interaction, the show truly succeeded in creating that connection between its performers and audience members.
I’m an avid theater goer, and I haven’t been to a show in a long time where I felt the music and the lighting so perfectly captured the tone of the show! Plus, even though you can see the production in other cities, I found out that there are new acts and new music that are exclusive only to Boston!
You’re going to leave the show unable to think of anything else: the music, the way the three performers are able to draw you in and leave you questioning how and why they’re making the moves they are, and the storyline will leave you on the edge of your set, craving the next note in the song, watching where the next splash of paint goes, and what the three performers could possible decide to do next.
Tickets for the show start at $49 and the show runs year round at the Charles Playhouse! You can purchase tickets here at blueman.com.
