It’s been a great week to be an actor: the actor’s strike has officially ended and productions could be back at work as soon as the end of November! The writer’s strike was resolved a few weeks ago, and now that the actor’s strike has been resolved as well, there’s nothing holding production back! There will still be delays on the releases of the shows and films we’ve been waiting on, but there’s finally nothing standing between us anymore!
There’s also a new Charlie Brown / Peanuts film in the works! Apple has ordered a Peanuts film which will follow Snoopy, Charlie brown, and the rest of the gang as they go on an epic journey to the big city. I haven’t seen an estimated release date yet, but I’ll keep you posted when I do!
Boy George announced this week that he is headed back to Broadway after 20 years! He will be playing Harold Zidler, the owner of the Moulin Rouge night club, in the beloved production Moulin Rouge! He will be taking the place of the much-loved Eric Anderson from February 6th, 2024 until May 12th, 2024.
Talk has been had this week as well about Zac Efron potentially playing Matthew Perry should there be a biopic about the late Friends star.
Though there is nothing in the works at the moment, Perry had expressed his desire for Efron to play him should there ever be a movie made about him, to which Efron has said he would be ‘hugely honored’.
Efron has also made mention of how much of an impact Perry has had on him, especially after the pair played the same character at two different ages in the film 17 Again.
This was a tremendous week for books as well.
Romance powerhouse Ali Hazelwood published Check and Mate on Tuesday – her third novel release of the year!
Megan Fox also released her book of poetry titled Pretty Boys are Poisonous and Barbra Streisand’s memoir My Name is Barbra was released this week as well.
Lastly, for books, the much-anticipated sequel to the BookTok sensation Fourth Wing was released this week. Iron Flame, the second book of a predicted 5 book series took the world by storm with its release – and boy did it SHINE!
I read the first book earlier this week in a day and finished this second novel in two days and I’m already clamoring for the next one! If you’re looking for a copy of Rebecca Yarros’ book, you can grab one here.
Trevor Noah also returned this week with the release of the first episode of his new podcast called What Now? with Trevor Noah. His first guest on his show was The Rock, where part of their conversation discussed how The Rock was approached to run for president.
You can listen to the podcast here. Noah has said that he ‘sees his new platform as a space where he can speak to his subjects for an extended period and, maybe, actually, get to know them, rather than the guests’ next project.’
SiriusXM also announced this week that James Corden will have a new weekly show where he has conversations with the world’s biggest stars, discussing the people, places, moments, and memories who made them who they are today.
As for movies, the first trailer for the new Inside Out 2 film was released. Check it out below!
The new Mean Girls Movie Musical trailer also dropped!
In terms of TV, the announcement was made this week after Dan + Shay filled in for coach Niall Horan that they will be joining the coaching staff next season for The Voice as the first ever coaching duo on the series.
Lastly, People announced 2023’s Sexiest Man Alive – Patrick Dempsey! I have to be honest, I’m surprised they didn’t pick Ryan Gosling this year after the success of Barbie, but I can definitely see why they picked Dempsey this year!
