Good morning, listeners! Thanks for checking out The Buzz a couple days early on this holiday week!
This week, news broke that there is a new Karate Kid movie coming in 2024 which will star both Ralph Macchio AND Jackie Chan!
Plot details are still under wraps, but casting is underway! Check out this video that Macchio and Chan released.
The new Hunger Games film – The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes – hit theaters last Friday and is doing extremely well in the box office!
I saw the movie over the weekend and if you’re a fan of the original films, it’s definitely worth seeing! The film’s cast was great and the story did such a great job planting seeds and filling in gaps for the original movies. I will say though that although the premise of The Hunger Games is brutal and violent and completely inhumane, I wasn’t exactly expecting how gruesome some of the depictions in the film would be. They showed a lot more of the violence than I think the original movies did, so if this isn’t something you enjoy, I might wait until the film hits streaming services before you see it.
The movie is making headlines this week because of a particular actress in the film: Sofia Sanchez. Sanchez is a 14 year old actress with Down syndrome and she made her film debut playing one of the tributes who goes into the arena to participate in the Games. Sanchez has long been an advocate for Down syndrome and is continuing to advocate for how we all are unique in our own ways and that our differences don’t make us weak, but they mean that we can all be included.
Check out this article that spotlights Sofia Sanchez and her role in The Hunger Games and her advocacy efforts.
Word also traveled this week that the release of the film Dune: Part Two has been pushed up! It will now be released worldwide on March 1, 2024.
Elton John, in a sense, is headed to Broadway next year! Elton John wrote the music for the biographic stage musical about Tammy Faye and it’s coming to Broadway next year after being produced in London.
As for Thanksgiving, if you’re looking to get into the holiday spirit, Yahoo has created a list of 5 classic Thanksgiving sitcom episodes that you have to watch this year.

Lastly, if you’re a tv/movie fan and you’re trying to catch up before shows begin airing again this coming spring, there are some Black Friday deals for streaming services this year.
Paramount+ is offering a $1.99/month subscription for three months OR the Paramount+ with SHOWTIME plan for just $3.99/month for three months.
Hulu is also offering a $0.99/month subscription for 12 months (when their usual plan is $7.99/month I believe!).
