We weren’t on air this morning, but I’m still here to give you The Buzz this week!
Road House – the remake of the 1989 film with Patrick Swayze, Sam Elliot and Kelly Lynch – was released yesterday on Prime. The movie has a fantastic cast including Conor McGregor, Jake Gyllenhaal, Lukas Gage, Post Malone, Billy Magnussen, and more! You can watch it here.
The new Sydney Sweeney horror film is out today in theaters, it’s called Immaculate. According to Google, the film is about “An American nun [who] embarks on a new journey when she joins a remote convent in the Italian countryside. However, her warm welcome quickly turns into a living nightmare when she discovers her new home harbours a sinister secret and unspeakable horrors.”
We also got our first look at the new Beetlejuice Beetlejuice movie this week. The film is set for a September 6th theatrical release. Check out the new photos:
News dropped this week that there’s a new Sims movie in the works as well, based off of the video game. Margot Robbie is set to produce it.
Lastly for movies, Lisa Ann Walter came forward saying she wants to do a Parent Trap remake with Lindsay Lohan.
As for TV, Ryan Murphy has a new series coming called Dr. Odyssey which is predicted to be a medical procedural. The series is slated to air during the 2024-2025 broadcast season and is set to star Dawson’s Creek alum Joshua Jackson. Jackson also recently joined the new Karate Kid reboot.
Last weekend at 90s Con – which, if you’re a fan of 90s pop culture, I would definitely recommend going to! – the Boy Meets World cast announced that there’s a documentary coming.
Travis Kelce is also predicted to be hosting a new reboot of the show Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? on Amazon Prime. Instead of kids on this show, it will be celebrities. Kelce hasn’t commented if this gig is set in stone or not.
In sports, people are worried about the fight that’s going to take place between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson in July, fearful of Tyson’s health. He’s spoken out, though, saying he only has sciatica and that he’ll be fine in the fight.
Lastly, if you’re a Phantom of the Opera fan, the show is coming back as a German VR coaster. Here’s what’s been said about the ride: “The experience, part of the park’s Eurosat Coastiality attraction, will invite riders to wear a VR headset, allowing the dark ride experience to be digitally augmented. The ride’s official description shares that the experience mixes the “mystery and intrigue of this gripping love story” with “the thrill of a rollercoaster ride.””
