Good morning, listeners! This has been, and will continue to be, a big week for music and for Broadway!
The Huey Lewis jukebox musical officially opens on Monday! The show is titled The Heart of Rock and Roll and centralizes around a couple who get a second shot at their dreams. In order for them to figure out what they want out of their lives, it will take some help from their friends and The Power of Love!
The show is similar to Mamma Mia, in that the show utilizes Huey Lewis’ music to tell a story, much like how Mamma Mia uses ABBA’s music to tell a different story.
So far, the show is just playing on Broadway, but I bet it’s only a matter of time before it starts traveling. If you’re interested, you can purchase Broadway tickets here. If/when the show goes on tour, I’ll keep all you Huey Lewis fans updated!
If you were a fan of the 2018 film Crazy Rich Asians, word on the street is that the film is being developed into a Broadway musical by the film’s director Jon M. Chu. The musical is described as “a fun, engaging and hilarious look at what can happen when young love collides with old money.” and like the film, it will follow Rachel and her boyfriend Nick on their trip to Singapore where Rachel finds out Nick’s family is crazy rich.
La La Land (2016) and The Devil Wears Prada (2006) are also films that are currently being developed into musicals.
For Celine Dion fans, there is an official release date for her upcoming documentary. Her new film – I am: Celine Dion – will premiere on Prime Video on June 25th.
It is a love letter to her fans and per Instagram, the film will be a “raw and honest behind-the-scenes look at the iconic superstar’s struggle with a life-altering illness.” and will “highlight the music that has guided her life while also showcasing the resilience of the human spirit.”

If you’re looking for music to listen to today, Taylor Swift’s new Album – The Tortured Poets Department – is now out. You can listen to it here. She also dropped 15 extra tracks, making what was thought to be a single album a double.
If you missed the Billy Joel Madison Square Garden special on Sunday night or if the ending of the special was cut off for you, you can catch a replay tonight at 9pm on CBS or stream on Paramount+!
As for upcoming projects, there are some updates on the new season of Wednesday, with production beginning this spring. Check out this article to read the full update.
The Apple TV sensation The Morning Show is coming back with a projected premiere date of “after” the upcoming presidential election. We’ve talked on The Buzz before about how the Big Bang Theory spinoff Young Sheldon is coming to an end and the cast spoke with Entertainment Weekly to talk about closing out the show. Check it out here!
Lastly, Travis Kelce is confirmed to be hosting the new series Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? and Barbra Streisand has a new single coming out on April 25th called Love Will Survive.
The song will be her first release in six years and is part of The Tattooist of Auschwitz series. It’s also Streisand’s first song for a TV series.
If you’re unfamiliar, The Tattooist of Auschwitz is about a Slovakian Jewish man who gets deported to Auschwitz and is assigned the role of tattooing identification numbers on fellow prisoners. While there, he meets someone and the pair become determined to keep each other alive. It is based on Heather Morris’ 2018 novel of the same name. Check out the trailer below. The series premieres on May 2nd on Peacock.
