Hi listeners! We weren’t on air this morning, but I’m here to give you The Buzz from Sunny California!
Last night, Billy Joel ended his historic Madison Square Garden residency with an iconic show filled with special guests like Jimmy Fallon and his two daughters. Last night’s show was the 104th show in his residency which started back in 2014.
You can read more about his final show here. Madison Square Garden posted several photos commemorating the event, one that I’ve linked below. You can find more here.
If you’re looking for something to do to keep busy this weekend, Hulu, Disney+, and Max have launched a promotion where you can bundle their services for a discounted price. Check out this article for more info.
If those services aren’t your speed, don’t forget that the Olympics start this weekend and if you’re looking to see when your favorite events start, NBC Sports is probably your best bet – check out this page to stay up to date.
Lastly, and what I’m most excited to share, is that San Diego Comic Con is going on this weekend – AKA, one of my favorite weekends of the year!
If you’re into entertainment, publishing, comics, and cosplay, this is the event for you!
Tons of different networks use this weekend as a weekend for promotion and it’s an absolutely surreal thing to experience firsthand. The event garners fans from near and far and being in an environment with people who are as into this industry as you are is amazing. But even if you aren’t able to be here and you’re keeping tabs from home, this weekend will surely bring announcements you’ve been waiting for about films, series, and comics that you love.
This morning, I heard that The Boys gathered for a panel and Jensen Ackles made an appearance. At the panel, they announced that Jensen will be returning to the fifth and final season of The Boys as a series regular and there is also a new spin-off series being developed which will follow Jensen Ackles’ character as its lead.
Lastly, the new Deadpool & Wolverine movie is out NOW and I just have to say… if you haven’t seen it yet, GO! SEE! IT! NOW!
I won a lottery and was able to attend a Deadpool event at Comic Con last night and I was under the impression it was just going to be a panel with Hugh Jackman and the film’s director, but instead, they brought out those two plus Ryan Reynolds and Emma Corrin and THEN, they showed us the ENTIRE MOVIE.
Being in a room with such huge Marvel fans as all of us watched the movie together for the very first time was absolutely surreal. We laughed together, screamed together, and our jaws dropped together at all the surprises in the film. The movie was hysterical and entertaining and everything we all hoped it would be.
Afterwards – and if you want to avoid mild spoilers, I probably wouldn’t continue reading – they brought the 4 original panel members back out on stage plus CHRIS EVANS, Jennifer Garner, Wesley Snipes, Channing Tatum, and Daphne Keen.
Again, it was the most surreal thing I’ve ever experienced and as I was sitting there, I couldn’t wait to talk about it on The Buzz. If you have been listening to The Buzz for awhile, you know how much I love Chris Evans, so that in itself was so exciting, but just being in that Hall and being surrounded by family and fans alike… there’s nothing that compares.
Check out one of the photos I took of Ryan and Hugh when the panel first began.
If you’re on the fence about seeing the movie, I can’t recommend it enough. I can’t remember the last time I laughed that much at a movie and I already am looking forward to seeing it again – such a great film!
Can’t wait to be back on air with you all next week – enjoy your weekend!
