This week, we got TONS of tv news! The cast for the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars was revealed – there are olympians, reality tv personalities, actors, and more. You can check out the full cast here. The Survivor cast was also revealed for the season that premieres on September 18th. There’s also a new One Tree Hill series that is in the works from original cast members Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton Morgan! You can read more about that show here.
Another series that really stuck out to me is a Twilight animated series called Midnight Sun. The series is based off of Stephanie Meyer’s novel Midnight Sun which retells the story of Twilight from Edward’s point of view rather than Bella’s. I don’t know when the series will premiere or who has been cast, but the series did get a straight to series order at Netflix, so that should be hitting the streamer sooner rather than later.
Alyson Hanniagn who starred as Lily Aldrin on all nine seasons of How I Met Your Mother spoke about her hopes for a new How I Met Your Mother series. Rather than building a new storyline, Hannigan thinks they should shift the focus to another member of the friend group: Marshall. She wants to tell the same story as the original series, but keep everything in Marshall’s (Jason Segel) point of view rather than Ted’s (Josh Radnor).
She likes this idea because it emphasizes how everybody tells stories differently and it would give the cast members the opportunity to do the show together again.
You can watch How I Met Your Mother now on Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+.
In other TV news, the first two episodes of season two of Tell Me Lies dropped on Hulu this week and you can watch those new episodes and all of season one here.
Joshua Jackson also spoke more on his upcoming series Dr. Odyssey, which premieres on September 26th on ABC. Check out the article!
If you’re a fan of Ellen, her new (and her final) comedy special is dropping on Netflix on September 24th. It’s called Ellen Degeneres: For Your Approval and in addition to it being her last comedy special, she’s also going to be addressing getting “kicked out of show business”.
As for music, Dave Matthews Band is going on tour to celebrate their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction! Check out the tour dates here. Tickets go on sale on Friday, September 20th.
I also came across this great article that listed upcoming music releases throughout the end of the year. Check out this page to see the list.
Lastly, if you’re looking for something to do this weekend, check out Beetlejuice Beetlejuice which is in theaters NOW!
