Welcome back to another edition of The Buzz! If you’d like to listen to this week’s extended podcast, check it out here!
First up for the week is TV!
If you’re a fan of the Netflix sensation Nobody Wants This, check out this article. It’ll get you excited for the upcoming season – there’s not too much info yet, but it’s coming!
We’ve been working with Fedele’s Chocolates here at Easy 99.1 running the Incredible Golden Ticket promotion which you can learn more about here, and coincidentally, Netflix is also starting a program called The Golden Ticket!
The Golden Ticket on Netflix is a new Wonka-inspired reality competition series where you will need a Golden Ticket to enter and once you’re inside the whimsical wonderland, you’ll have to adapt and strategize your way through games, tests, and temptations in the retro-futuristic dreamscape. You can read more about it on this page! There is no premiere date yet, but you can get info about casting here.
There’s also a Big Bang Theory spin off in the works as we’ve talked about, and this week, it finally got a name! It’s going to be called Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, based, of course, off of Kevin Sussman’s Stuart from TBBT. No storylines or premiere dates have been discussed yet.
Another spin off in the works is Sheriff Country, which is related to Fire Country. The new series will star Morena Baccarin and you can read more about it here.
Jensen Ackles, Supernatural alum, is also going to be starring in a new show called Countdown. The show comes from a former Chicago Fire showrunner, but aside from revealing that the series is a thriller, not much other info has been released. Ackles shared that the first season has wrapped, but was tight lipped otherwise.
As for movies, the trailer for the new Happy Gilmore movie was released this week and the movie itself will drop on Netflix on July 25th. Check out the trailer below.
If you’re looking for something to watch this weekend, Snow White is in theaters today and if you’re looking to stream something, you can catch Wicked on Peacock, Anora on Hulu, Den of Thieves 2 on Netflix, Sing Sing on Max, and Never Let Go on Starz.
This was also a big week for the book community!
The new Hunger Games novel Sunrise on the Reaping was released on Tuesday! The story follows Haymitch and his experience in the 50th Hunger Games. I haven’t finished the book yet, but so far, it’s fantastic!
Another exciting thing coming is deluxe editions of the books We Were Liars and Family of Liars by E. Lockhart. Those two novels will be released on May 6th, ahead of the premiere of the series We Were Liars on Prime which has been developed by Carina MacKenzie and Julie Plec.
E. Lockhart is also releasing a new book called We Fell Apart, which is a companion novel to We Were Liars and Family of Liars. In an interview, E. Lockhart said, “I am so psyched to have helped bring the Sinclair family to Prime Video this summer and to reveal more of their secrets with We Fell Apart…This new book offers new characters, new family tragedies and a huge new love story, while opening up the world I built in the first two books. I hope my readers will be completely wrecked.” We Fell Apart will be available for purchase on November 4th.
In terms of things you can listen to, the Jonas Brothers released a new song today called Love Me to Heaven and there is no shortage of podcast material to listen to!
The new episodes – yes, two episodes – of the How We Made Your Mother podcast dropped this week and gave SUCH an interesting behind the scenes look at how How I Met Your Mother was created and how the cast was chosen, and there is also a Big Bang Theory Podcast that premiered this week hosted by Jessica Radloff. You can check that out here.
