This week, we learned that the digital release of Wicked is almost here! You’ll be able to buy and rent Wicked starting on December 31st and it will include HOURS of exclusive content including a sing along version, tons of deleted scenes, feature commentary with the film’s director Jon M. Chu, and feature commentary with Cynthia and Ariana. Click here for more info, particularly on the deleted scenes and exclusive content beyond the feature commentary.
If you want to own the film on DVD or Blu-Ray, it will be released on February 4th, 2025, and if you’re already counting down to part 2 (like me!), you can look forward to the theatrical release on November 21st, 2025.
Cynthia Erivo, who played Elphaba, spoke this week about the two new songs that are in part two of the film. She revealed that she co-wrote one of the songs and emphasized how special the song is to her. She mentioned how she doesn’t know if the audience is ready for the song as it speaks to the heart of who Elphaba is and when they were filming, the cast AND crew were crying. She did not reveal the song’s title, but she did say that she believes even the song’s title will move fans. I, for one, already know I will be a jumble of emotions when this movie comes out, so I have no doubt Cynthia is right in saying that it will get me emotional.
As for other music news, Kendrick Lamar has been named the Super Bowl halftime show performer for the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans. The Super Bowl is on February 9th next year and Kendrick has said, “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date, and I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”
For the TV lovers out there, in case you missed it, there is a NEW SEASON of Squid Game on Netflix! It was released yesterday on the streamer and while I was researching, I found out that Squid Game is the most watched show ever on Netflix, so it’s sure to impress!

Another film that’s on the way is Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. Yes, it’s THAT Odyssey. Nolan will be adapting Homer’s epic poem for the big screen and so far, we know that Rob Pattinson, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Tom Holland, Matt Damon, and Lupita Nyong’o will be in the film.
It’s slated for a July 17th, 2026 release.
