This week was a very quiet week in Hollywood, but we do owe musician Brian Logan Dales and actress Briana Cuoco – sister of Kaley Cuocu – a big congratulations on their marriage! They got married on New Year’s Eve and rang in the new year in the most extravagant way possible!
Check out their feature on Entertainment Tonight! This post also details more about their wedding and their unique wedding gift request!
As for things to look forward to, the Golden Globes are on Sunday night at 8pm on CBS. They will also stream on Paramount+ for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers.
The show this year will be hosted by Nikki Glaser and there are so many great nominees in the running – people have already putting their predictions in for who they think will take home the coveted awards! You can check out the full list of nominees here.
If you, like me, are hoping that Wicked has made that list, rest assured, it has! Wicked is predicted to win Best Comedy or Musical, Ariana Grande is predicted to win Best Supporting Actress, and Cynthia Erivo is nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical.
And if you want to get your Wicked fix before the award show, Wicked is available on digital for rent or purchase now!
The GRAMMYS are also on the way, and as part of GRAMMY Week, the 2025 Special Merit Awards will take place at the Wilshire Ebell Theater on February 1st.
Several awards will be given out at this ceremony including the 2025 Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award which will be given to Frankie Valli, Frankie Beverley, The Clash, Taj Mahal, Prince, and Roxanne Shante. Check out this article for more info!
Another thing that’s in the works is the One Tree Hill reboot. Hilarie Burton Morgan – who played Peyton Sawyer on One Tree Hill – spoke this week about the new series and how pleased she is with the direction it’s going. She’s also said that she would love to create something that she and her teenager can watch together because she loved that One Tree Hill was something that parents and kids would watch together and be a platform for them to talk about ‘stuff that’s hard’.
So far, only Hilarie and her co-star Sophia Bush – Brooke Davis on One Tree Hill – are confirmed to return, but Danneel Ackles is said to be returning to the series as an executive producer.
Something else to look forward to is Cameron Diaz’s return to Hollywood! She’s making a comeback after around ten years away from the industry.
On January 17th, her new film Back in Action will hit Netflix. She stars in the film alongside Jamie Foxx. She and Foxx play a married couple who are former CIA agents forced to get back into the espionage world after their identities are compromised.
Diaz is also going to be in the upcoming Apple TV+ thriller Outcome in Los Angeles alongside Keanu Reeves and Matt Bomer and she will be reprising her role as Princess Fiona in Shrek 5 as well which will be released in July 2026.
As for things you can watch now, Madonna has released a new documentary called Becoming Madonna on Sky Documentaries. It is a coming of age documentary.
If that doesn’t appeal to you, check out this list of releases on Netflix throughout the month of January.
There’s also a lot of winter TV premieres to look forward to – you can see them all here.
The Rookie is probably the one that viewers are most excited to see and there will be tons of changes to the series this season!
For one, Tru Valentino, who plays Aaron Thorsen, has left the show. They haven’t confirmed why, but it’s likely due to the show’s creative direction. I’m personally very surprised he’s leaving because there was no indication at the end of the last season that he wouldn’t be on the next, but Valentino did say that you never know who might pop back up on the show, so there’s definitely hope that he’ll be back!
As for new cast members, Deric Augustine is joining the cast as a new rookie from Texas. Augustine is known for his roles on Shameless and All American.. Patrick Keleher will be playing another new rookie and making his tv debut on The Rookie! He’s known for being in the stage production Fatherland. Lastly, Ivan Hernandez will be jumping on board as a detective. He will challenge Shawn Ashmore’s Wesley Evers and is known for playing Carrie Bradshaw’s love interest on And Just Like That.
The Rookie premieres on January 7th at 10pm – check out the promo below!
Lastly, I can’t believe that we’re already talking about this, but the Super Bowl is already on everyone’s radar! The Chiefs are predicted to be playing in the game, but it’s still up in the air as to who they will be playing against. People are predicting it will either be the Lions or the Bills.
The game will be played in New Orleans at Caesars Superdome on February 9th at 6:30pm. It will air on Fox and will also stream on Fubo, Hulu + Live TV, Youtube TV, Paramount+, sling TV, or the NFL App.
