Happy Friday, listeners, and welcome back to The Buzz! As always, this post is an extended version of what you heard on the radio this morning, but if you want even more, check out the extended podcast here!
Today, Cameron Diaz is officially back on the map! Her new movie Back in Action with Jamie Foxx is on Netflix now and she made her first red carpet appearance in 5 years in Berlin to promote the film! Check out photos here and the movie here.
Some fun news for Bee Gees fans! There’s a biopic on the way called You Should Be Dancing from Gladiator II director Ridley Scott. Work on the project has been pushed back to the end of 2025, but Scott has said ‘I liked the working-class side of the Bee Gees. It’s all about competition with brothers…. And then they lose Andy… It’s more about the gift than the luck, right?… It’s a fantastic story’ – so hopefully we’ll be seeing work on that film soon!
As biopics gain momentum, someone wrote an article about five biopics they wish to see and what they think could be explored in the films. Check out the list here!
Speaking of movies, Waitress the Musical is headed to Max! This marks the first time the film will be on a streaming service and it’s not one to miss! This film will make you laugh, cry, and everything in between. Watch the trailer below – it’s one of my all time favorites!
If you’re in the mood for thrills and suspense, start your rewatch of You now! Netflix announced yesterday that the fifth and final season of You is coming to the streamer on April 24th and the promo looks fantastic! It looks more reminiscent of season one than the last few seasons have been, so I’m excited to go back to our roots and dive back into Joe Goldberg’s chaotic life one last time. Check out the promo below.
A new thriller is also coming to Apple TV+ on Wednesday called Prime Target. Leo Woodell, star of the Netflix sensation One Day, leads the show as a mathematician who discovers a conspiracy.
Two episodes will drop on the streamer on Wednesday, January 22nd and one episode will drop each week after that until the finale in March. You can get more info and watch the trailer here!
Another new show is coming to Netflix on February 6th called Apple Cider Vinegar. Kaitlyn Dever plays a wellness guru who’s lying about her health to everyone around her. Watch the trailer here – it looks fantastic!
If you loved How I Met Your Mother, check out this TikTok. Some of the show’s cast reunited this past week for a benefit concert and I promise, this video will stir up all the nostalgia!
Something else that will probably make you nostalgic is that Grant Gustin – star of the CW’s The Flash – said that if asked by DC’s co-CEO James Gunn, he would be open to returning as The Flash!
Usher is also looking back on his career and is joining Audible’s Words + Music series on February 6th. The article I read said, “Usher looks back at his 30 years in music, as well as the inspiration, heartache and growth that led to his beloved fourth studio album, 2004’s Confessions. He’ll also delve into some of the set’s iconic tracks including “Confessions,” “Confessions Part II,” “Bad Girl,” “Burn” and more…With the recent 20th anniversary of Confessions, creating The Last Showman has been an incredible opportunity to reflect on the most pivotal moments of my career with fresh eyes and deep appreciation,” Usher said in a press statement. “This project isn’t just about telling my story; it’s about sharing the raw, unfiltered truth behind the music that’s connected with generations of listeners, as well as the power of vulnerability in art.”
As for the GRAMMYS which are coming up on 2/2, despite the wildfires raging in LA, the ceremony will take place as planned and will raise funds for wildfire relief efforts.
Other than the ceremony though, most GRAMMY Week events have been cancelled.
Check out this condensed schedule of events now, each of which will include a fundraising element. The events still taking place are MusiCares Persons of the Year Charity Gala honoring the Grateful Dead on 1/31, the Special Merit Awards Ceremony & Grammy Nominees Reception and Clive Davis’ & the Recording Academy’s Pre-Grammy Fundraising Event on 2/1, and commence with the GRAMMYS on 2/2.
