We made it through another work week so you know what that means – another edition of The Buzz! As always, click this link if you’d like to listen to the extended podcast, otherwise, stick around here and I’ll give you a crash course of what happened in Hollywood this week!
Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively are still at odds with one another, so much so that Justin and his team have taken it upon themselves to create a website about the overall lawsuit. Check it out here – there’s so much info to take in, but if you’re interested in all the drama transpiring between the pair, it’s well worth the read!
Other things to keep you busy this weekend – the Critics Choice Awards will air at 7pm tonight on E! and stream tomorrow on Peacock, Usher’s Audible program where he reflects on his career and the 20th anniversary of his album Confessions is available now, and the new season on Sweet Magnolias dropped on Netflix yesterday! And of course, the Super Bowl is this weekend as well. I know not all of us are excited about the game itself, but hopefully the food and the commercials will be enough of a draw for you. If you’re looking to stir up some nostalgia, check out this article that ranks some of the best star-studded Super Bowl commercials!
Something else that might make you feel nostalgic is the upcoming How I Met Your Mother rewatch podcast. Josh Radnor, who played Ted Mosby, is teaming up with one of the show’s creators Craig Thomas and is looking back on How I Met Your Mother and how this show changed its cast, its fans, and culture on a podcast they’re calling How I Made Your Mother.
Josh is also a musician and one of his songs is being used as the podcast’s theme song! Check out the Instagram account for the podcast to keep up with all news relating to the podcast which premieres on March 10th.
There’s also another podcast in the works from the Ugly Betty cast – Michael Urie and Becki Newton (Marc and Amanda on the series) will be hosting a rewatch podcast called Still Ugly and are planning to reflect on each episode of the series, starting with the pilot. That podcast premieres in February.
A funny article I saw this week was that The Piña Colada song by Rupert Holmes, which has been used in the soundtrack of countless movies, is being made into a movie of its own! Details for the film are being kept under wraps for now, but what I do know is that the film is being made in partnership with Rupert Holmes and Alloy Entertainment and it will be a romantic comedy.
Elton John and Brandi Carlile were also in the headlines this week as they are planning to release a 10-song album called Who Believes in Angeles? The album will feature the song Never Too Late, which is from the Disney+ documentary Elton John: Never Too Late.
The album will be released on April 4th and the pair are also having a One Night Only event coming up in London on March 26th which is advertised as being a night of ‘performance and storytelling’.
Another pair of musical legends announced an upcoming One Night Only Event as well this week. Billy Joel and Sting will be sharing the stage at Citi Field on August 21st, 2025.
Presale tickets go on sale on Monday, February 10th for Citi cardholders, Sting Fan Club members can access tickets on February 11th, and tickets will go on sale for the general public on Valentine’s Day at 10am.
If you can’t make the Citi Field show, unfortunately, the pair will not be coming to Massachusetts, but they will be playing Indianapolis, Syracuse, Milwaukee, Charlotte, Salt Lake City, and DC together.
Beyonce also announced some stadium tour dates this week. Like Billy Joel and Sting, she will not be coming to Massachusetts, but instead, she’ll be heading out to LA, Chicago, East Rutherford, London, Paris, Houston, DC, and Atlanta. Tickets will be going on sale to the public on Valentine’s Day at 12pm EST. She’s also offering several presales including one for Citi cardholders and Verizon members.
As for movies, I was so excited to see that there’s a Filipino romcom coming US theaters on March 28th called My Love Will Make You Disappear. This release follows the success of the Filipino film Hello, Love, Again which became the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time and is coming to Netflix on February 13th!
Neil Patrick Harris has also signed on for a new film called Sunny Dancer which follows Ivy, a young girl who is forced to attend summer camp for young people affected by cancer.
Lastly, David Archuleta, known primarily for his time on American Idol, is releasing a memoir! It’s coming out on May 6th and you can read more about that here.
