Join Merlin’s Kids later this month for a basketball tournament at the Wolves Den in Pembroke!
Merlin’s Kids is an organization that rescues, trains, and places service dogs with children with autism, victims of abuse, and veterans.
On August 20th, Merlin’s Kids will be hosting a three on three basketball fundraising tournament at the Wolves Den in Pembroke and you can be part of it!
Your participation will be directly benefiting individuals like fifteen year old Gabriel Machado. Gabriel has cerebral palsy and is legally blind and non-verbal. He just graduated from Perkins School for the Blind’s Lower School, and because of an innovative device purchased for him, he was able to walk at his graduation ceremony.
Gabriel was never expected to be able to walk, but because of this device, he is now able to, and his family believes that there is nothing that is not possible.
His family is continuing to fundraise, looking to purchase a service dog for Gabriel, a dog who will help to better his mobility, alleviate anxiety, and decrease stress.
You can learn more about Merlin’s Kids and who your participation will benefit at this page and also on Merlin’s Kids’ website.
All are encouraged to join the tournament – you don’t have to be a basketball star to play!
If you can’t make the tournament, but would still like to support the event, you can make a donation right online. For more information on how to get involved and help this local family, follow this link!
