Temperatures have been astronomically high this summer, and if you’re looking for a place to find some solace from the heat, here are some places you can go.
Plymouth
The Community Room at the Cedarville Fire Station – open from 8am – 4pm on August 4th and 5th. – Located at 2209 State Road
The Plymouth Public Library – open from 10am to 6pm on August 4th, and 10am – 5:30pm on August 5th and 6th. – Located at 132 South Street
The Manomet Branch Library – open from 1pm-9pm August 4th and 9am-5pm on August 6th – Located at 12 Strand Ave
The Center for Active Living – open 8:30am-4pm on August 4th and 5th. If you’re a resident in need of transportation, call April Thompson (508) 830-4230, etx. 106.
If you need help getting to a cooling center, call the Plymouth Fire Department’s Business Line at (508) 830-4213 ext. 100.
Boston
Mayor Wu has declared a heat emergency in Boston from August 4th until August 7th, and cooling centers will be open at 16 BCYF community centers from 9am – 5pm.

Burlington, MA
The Human Services Building off Center Street will be home to a cooling center in Room 106. It’ll be open from 8:30am – 7pm on Thursday and Friday.
Framingham, MA
Framingham will have three cooling centers open this weekend.
- Main Library, 49 Lexington St. — Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- McAuliffe Branch, 746 Water St. — Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Callahan Center, 535 Union Ave. — Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Providence, RI
Providence has also opened numerous cooling centers, and for more information on all of them, including their hours, check out this site.
