Gooooood morning, listeners! I was happy to be back on air with all of you this morning after a break last week and so much has happened since last Friday!
Firstly, new casting has been announced for the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic. I’m most excited to see Kat Graham – star of the CW drama The Vampire Diaries – playing Diana Ross!
I was out in Chicago last weekend at an event called Epic Cons Chicago and Kat Graham was actually at the event and she was so kind hearted and so friendly and took the time to really speak to each and every fan that was there (myself included), so I’m very excited to see her in a feature film!
Other casting includes Jessica Sula as LaToya Jackson, Liv Symone as Gladys Knight, Kevin Shnick as Dick Clark, KeiLyn Durrel as Bill Bray, Kendrick Sampson as Quincy Jones, Larenz Tate as Berry Gordy, Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson, Nia Long as Katherine Jackson, Miles Teller as John Branca, and Juliano Krue Valdi as young Michael Jackson.
The film is scheduled to hit theaters on April 18th and is expected to span from Jackson’s childhood stardom to his ‘impactful musical career as an adult’. It will also address the controversies of his life and his tragic death.
Three of the cast members from the 2006 film John Tucker Must Die – Sophia Bush, Arielle Kebbel, and Jesse Metcalfe – were also at Epic Cons Chicago this past weekend for a reunion almost 20 years after the original film was released!
I sat in on the panel that the three of them were on and their dynamic was incredible! It was such a fun and lively panel. They even got to talking about rumors about a sequel film coming and Jesse said that he’s heard rumors that there’s a script – and apparently the script is amazing – but he hasn’t seen it yet himself. He also said that he’d love to be a part of the film and can’t wait to read it.
Arielle piped in and said she actually had a hand in creating the script and that it does involve all of the original cast members and that Metcalfe’s character – John Tucker – may or may not get the chance to change in his ways in this new film.
Those early 2000s movies have such a different feel and nostalgia to them than movies today do, so I’m excited for this new movie, and knowing that Kebbel played a role in bringing the script to life, I have faith that it will be a good one! I’ve been a fan of hers for several years now and I’ve had the chance to meet her a number of times throughout the years, so I really do believe she’s put her heart and soul into making the best script she possibly can.
The Twilight cast was also at Epic Cons Chicago! Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone, Peter Facinelli, and Sarah Clarke were all at the event for one of the first Twilight reunions in years!
Check out one of the photos from the event below.
Robert Pattinson was not at the event, but he and fiance Suki Waterhouse welcomed their first baby! To my knowledge, they have not spoken publicly about the baby, but they have been spotted taking walks and pushing a baby stroller.
As for other reunions, it’s looking like there is a script for Happy Gilmore 2, a follow up to the 1996 movie which starred Adam Sandler and it’s looking like there is a new Pirates of the Caribbean movie in the works, but it will star an entirely new cast.
We also got our first look at the upcoming Bob Dylan biopic with Bob Dylan played by Timothée Chalamet. Check out this article to see some photos!
As for new shows, the third season of Euphoria has been delayed at HBO, but it has not been scrapped, despite rumors that point to that being the case. Scripts for the new season are still being written, it has just been delayed.
If you’re looking for something to watch this weekend though, check out We Were the Lucky Ones on Hulu. The limited series follows a Jewish family who was separated at the start of WWII and is determined to survive the war and come back together. It is based off of the book of the same title.
Lastly, if you’re looking for something new to listen to this weekend, Beyonce’s new album Cowboy Carter is out today! You can find it here.
See you back here next week – have a great weekend and enjoy your Easter!
