Good morning, listeners!
This news came in late last week and I’m super excited to share it with you! There is a new Hunger Games book and film both set for a 2025 release!
The new novel and accompanying movie are both called The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping and the book will be released first on March 18th, 2025 and the film will hit theaters on November 20th, 2025.
The story will take place during the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell. This story takes place 24 years prior to Katniss and Peeta’s first Games and if you remember, this was the Games that Haymitch Abernathy (Woody Harrelson) won. The story will presumably give us more insight into Haymitch’s backstory, and according to Pop Base on X, the film will be set on the morning of the 50th Games’ reaping.
If you’re interested in grabbing a copy of the book, you can preorder a copy here!
The long awaited second season of That 90s Show will be coming to Netflix on June 27th and you can check out the teaser for the season below.
They also dropped the news at the end of the teaser that Part III of the series will be coming to Netflix on October 24th, 2024.
The Selena Gomez, Martin Short, and Steve Martin led series Only Murders in the Building is also dropping their new season on Hulu on August 27th.
Lastly, in terms of things to look forward to, there is a Crazy Rich Asians series in the works at Max.
As for what you can watch now, the highly anticipated sequel film Inside Out 2 is in theaters today, and if you’re a Bridgerton fan, season 3 part 2 dropped on Netflix yesterday!
If you’re looking for something to listen to this weekend, Paul McCartney released a new album today called One Hand Clapping. It’s a live studio album that was recorded nearly fifty years ago, and while a lot, if not all, of these songs have been released (or bootlegged), this is the first time the album will be available in full!American Idol is seeing some changes coming as Katy Perry exits the show. Right now, there are a few names on the table as for who could be replacing her: Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia Barrino, Jordin Sparks, and Jelly Roll. I think the person who may be leading the competition though is Nantucket native Meghan Trainor. She’s spoken very candidly about how this is her dream job and how she’s interviewed with and reached out to everybody she possibly can about stepping into the role.
If you’re a Broadway or Stephen Sondheim fan, the Merrily We Roll Along production will be filming a proshot on June 17th and 18th. If you don’t know what a proshot is, it is a professionally filmed and officially licensed musical theater show.
Right now, there is no news on where or when this proshot will be released, but it is likely the show will have a wide release, especially considering the show is led by Daniel Radcliffe, Jonathan Groff, and Lindsay Mendes.
If you’ve never seen a proshot before and want to get a feel for what’s in store, check out Hamilton on Disney+ or Waitress: the Musical. The trailer for Waitress, which was released in December of 2023, is linked below.
